  • Why "chelated" forms of micronutrients?
  • Look for chelated Fe, Mg, Mn and other micronutrients.  Why?

Chelate is a special form of the nutrient, (such as Fe = Iron), in which a molecule that binds with the metal causes the element to be less affected by pH and may cause that element to become more readily absorbed by the roots or foliage of the plant.

That's an important aspect of Southwest Florida landscapes, as much of the soils used to establish planting areas around homes and communities is inert fill and often high pH.

Alan's Recommendation:  Incorporate Mycorrhizae while planting or drench the root area surrounding exiting landscaped plants as another important means of accessing essential nutrients such as oxygen and water.
