At the local level, The Royal Palm Chapter of the FNGLA brings together a close knit community of experienced, knowledgeable and talented businesspeople with an enduring love of the nursery and landscape industries. Monthly, the elected board and governing body of the Royal Palm Chapter meet to arrange networking and support of members and participants within and around Lee and Collier Counties of Soutwest Florida. Each board member represents varying viewpoints and perspectives from growers, installers, and allided industries.

Debbie Perkins, 2007-08 Chapter President
Debbie is now serving her 6th year on the board. The first 3 years as Secretary/Treasurer, two as Treasurer, and now as Chapter President. She received the 2003 FNGA Outstanding Secretary Award and also helped establish the Royal Palm Redfish Round-Up Fishing Tournament which has become a successful fund raiser for the chapter.
Debbie moved to Florida in 1984 from Las Vegas. She worked in banking for 7 years before moving to Florida. Debbie married Danny Perkins in 1985 and began working at that time for Perkins Nursery. They have 3 grown children between them and later this year will have 2 grandchildren.

Alan Shaffer, Secretary
Alan is now serving his third term as Secretary, and fourth year as an Associate Member of the Royal Palm Chapter.
Alan Shaffer was named Forestry Resources' Vice President of Sales-Marketing and Store Operations in July 2002. Prior to joining Forestry Resources, Alan had several years of experience within the wholesale nursery industry, and more than 15 years of retail experience with True Value, Handy Andy Home Improvement Centers and Lowe’s Companies. Shaffer earned his bachelor's degree in management and holds an associates degree in commercial art and advertising. He and his wife have four children living in Estero Florida.
