FNGLA HOSTS FEB. 12 MEETING

FNGLA Hosts Feb. 12 Meeting
 FORT MYERS, Fla. (Jan. 24, 2008) – The Royal Palm Chapter of Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association will host its next meeting Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Forestry Resources in Bonita Springs.
            Scheduled to speak are Terry Bengtsson and Sally McPherson with the South Florida Water Management District who will address water restrictions and what is forecasted for the West Coast of Florida.
            FNGLA members are nursery/growers, landscape contractors, golf course supervisors and property management companies. Cost is $12 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres, dinner and the program.
            Bengtsson is a lead scientist and the West Coast water supply coordinator with the District. His responsibilities include coordinating regional water supply plans of local governments. A professional geologist, he has over 20 years experience in water resources, hydrogeologic investigation and groundwater modeling.
            McPherson, a lead communications and intergovernmental outreach specialist, has been with the SFWMD for 18 years. Her responsibilities include communicating the roles, responsibilities and interests of the District to the public, students and teachers, foreign delegations and elected officials.
            The mission of the Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape Association is to enhance its members’ business success through political leadership, education, marketing, research, certification and services. The FNGLA represents Florida’s environmental horticulture industry, with an estimated $15.2 billion in industry-wide sales.
            The FNGLA meeting will be held at Forestry Resources located at 25211 Old U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs. For more information or to register, call 239-425-6440 by Feb. 7.
